I’m waiting on eggs to boil for deviled eggs and just wondered whag stage of prep other bees were in. We’ve gotten some done, but there’s a good bit to go:
Already done: chopped veggies, boiled eggs, cooked/shredded chicken, and cooked cornbread for the chicken and dressing. The ham and the turkey are cooked. The orange balls are made.
Working on: cooking collards and boiling eggs for deviled eggs.
Hope to do tonight: Bake two cakes.
Tomorrow: besides reheating, the chicken and dressing has to actually be cooked, as does the mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, green bean casserole, and corn bread (got to have FRESH cornbread!). The devilled eggs have to be peeled/mixed/filled. Then there’s the assembling and setting out all the food. Overall, it’s gonna be a busy day!
So bees, how is your food coming?

Sounds super busy, but oh so yummy! We had our dinner yesterday at our house. And we are going to my mom’s tomorrow, then mother in laws’ house Sunday. So all I am making tonight is cupcakes for my husband’a birthday. 🙂

@ForeverBirds: Girl, I could just tell you were from the South from that menu! Mmm-mm.
We are unexpectedly staying at home this Thanksgiving because of this damn winter storm–so instead of eating Thanksgiving with my family down in Florida, I’m cooking for us at home tomorrow in our itsy-bitsy apartment.
I ordered grocery delivery for 6:30am tomorrow (what we saved on gas because we cancelled the trip, we’re spending in groceries, lol) so I will be making my brine at 6:30am when the fixins get here! Turkey will go into the brine hopefully at 7am, and then I’ll have a little break until it goes in the oven around 2pm. (I will probably put together my dressing sometime in the morning too, but won’t put it into the oven until later.)
And then around 2pm, all hell will break loose! While the turkey’s cooking (and I’m periodically basting it!) I’ll make green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, and sweet potato casserole. I cheated and bought the pie and the rolls though! 😉

Thanksgiving Eve is in full force here!
-Chopped veggies, cut cheese, made hummus (all appetizers)
-Made pumpkin soup
-Cooked green beans
-Made cannoli filling and pumpkin pie
-Rolls were prepped and just need to be popped into the oven tomorrow
Tomorrow we’ll cook the turkey, make stuffing and mashed potatoes, put together a quick salad and then everything else is just warming up and assembling! Thankfully I’m at my parents’ house this year so there are four of us around to get things done. Last year Darling Husband and I did it all ourselves and it was stressful!!

My mom is hosting the dinner, so all I had to do was make the dessert. I ended up having to make ten pies this year (five pumpkin, five apple). I made two for my grandmother since she does her own dinner, two for my family, four for my dad’s work and then two extra just to have around the house. I just finished the last pie, and I’m so happy! I have a back condition, and the repetetive motion of peeling and dicing the apples for the pie kills my shoulders and back! My SO wants me to have a dinner for just us at our house this weekend, but I don’t know about that!

IT is 4 minutes to 8 and I have knocked out 9 hours of work for the day…I am going to go home sit on my lazy ass and possibly go to the store to buy alcohol. I might even hit up bars for black wednesday as I have not gone out in months.

The alcohol is for tomorrow not tonight…lmao.

@Waitingbee57: Psssh I don’t know what you’re talking about, I’ve already started hitting the wine! 😉

We’re hosting for the first time, and I won’t lie I’m a little flustered! Here’s what I’ve gotten done today:
-sliced cheese and veggies for appetizers
-made a cheesecake and two pumpkin pies from scratch
-made sweet potato casserole and homemade macaroni and cheese (just need to be baked tomorrow)
-seasoned and buttered the turkey
-cook the turkey (obviously)
-bake the SP casserole and mac and cheese
-drink wine in an attempt to fend off pregnancy questions
Luckily my mom and Mother-In-Law are bringing the green bean casserole, potatoes, stuffed ham (a southern Maryland tradition), and an apple pie. So I think we’re set!

My brother and aunt are hosting (separately) this year, so I’m just bring apps and a cheesecake. The eggs are boiled for the deviled eggs and waiting to be peeled and mixed up tomorrow, and the cheescake is in the oven. I’m also bringing some antipasto skewer thingies but those might I’ll leave until tomorrow (and maybe convince Darling Husband to help, haha).
I cheated and bought a platter of delicious bars for another dessert from a local bakery. Yum!

Left to do: Nothing!
I’m going to Disney with my brother and cousin for Thanksgiving this year. 😛 My cousin works at Disney now and can get us park-hoppers. Makes the cooking and cleaning a breeze!
On the downside, somehow I don’t think Disney’s version of Thanksgiving turkey will be nearly as good as the real thing. :/ Reading the lists of food y’all are posting is making me DROOL.

I’m so jealous of all of you who are going to someone else’s house lol. Luckily it’s my mom and I cooking so I certainly won’t be all by myself tomorrow!

My mom is making most of our meal, but I’m doing a cheesecake and homemade mac & cheese.
I baked the cheesecake tonight …waiting on it to cool now! I’ll add toppings tomorrow.
