I’m super happy with my Canon Rebel T2i, but am not sure about the coolpix vs the power shot. You should go to a store, play with them to see which one you like best.

I answered this poll without realizing you were talking about point-and-shoot cameras. For those, I would say neither. I love Nikon (and Canon) SLRs but have nothing but unmitigated fury for my Coolpix. I’d get a Sony Cybershot before I got another Nikon or Canon P&S. I hear great things about Sony’s DSC-RX100.

Canon is my favorite brand. I love my Rebel…
However for point and shoot, I used a Panasonic Lumix ZS19. I wanted something that I could fit in my pocket for my honeymoon, but wanted good pictures and a big zoom.

Canon. I had a terrible experience with Nikon customer service. I have both a Canon DSLR and a point in shoot.

Nikon I won’t touch another brand. And I don’t do point n shoots…

My father is a photographer as I am (Sometimes, anyway!) and he has always used a Nikon. He has, however, purchased a Canon digital recently.
I myself own a Canon and I like it. I voted Canon, but I have experience in both, they’re both quality companies.
Edit: Oh. You’re talking about point-and-shoots? Can’t help you there. I wouldn’t touch one of those with a ten foot pole. My husband has a Nikon Coolpix. I’ve never used it, but he used it on his deployments and trips to Germany, so he likes it.

We are definitely a canon family. I personally own 4 powershots and Darling Husband owns the D7. There was nothing wrong with any of the powershots, they just got outdated and needed to be replaced after 5 years or so. Due to being outdated. I currently use the S90 and D10 (water camera) and LOVE them both.

Nikon all the way. I love my D3100!!!!

I have the nikon coolpix for my carry in my purse camera and I love it. I have a Cannon Rebel T3 DLSR for “real” picture taking. I did have the cannon powershot before the nikon and I love my nikon better

Nikon – I’ve heard the Nikkor lenses that Nikon uses are a bit superior to the ones Canon uses.

thanks everyone…..we are still checking these out….we are getting a point and shoot one for now for all the traveling and family weddings we have comming up….i would like to invest in a much nicer one than a point and shoot….but are unsure of how well they would travel…..
