Hi all. So I’m in the position to quickly plan my wedding. Long story short, due to my parents health I have to ditch my destination wedding plans and have started from scratch here in NJ to get this together for August. The restaurant I wanted the reception at cannot handle the ceremony. We are both devoutly atheist so do not want to compromise our views or be disrespectful to religion by having a church wedding. Although we could have one at a unitarian church locally we both feel it would be wrong. I wanted an outside ceremony but he and every single groomsmen has begged not to do that in August. We went to a wedding this summer that had an outside ceremony and lots of the guys had visible sweat marks under their arms. Not pretty lol.
So outdoors is out, church is out, restaurant is out and I’m looking at 60 people. The ceremony is very important to us and we want everyone that can be there to be there. This leaves us looking for a new reception site that can also host our ceremony. I don’t want to spend a fortune of course. I have an appointment to see Graycliff in Moonachie. It looks beautiful and the price is excellent. They have our date but it would be an 8pm ceremony with the reception after that. This is perfect for our guests as most are younger late 20s early 30s no kids that love to dance and get out. It also lends an elegant night time theme that I like. I also have contacted Bacari Grill in Washington Twsp. It looks really pretty and the champagne brunch looks like an elegant option. We then could take over the hotel bar/lounge that night with our guests.
Can anyone think of another place that would fit our needs? Or an inexpensive place you liked? I would be open to museums, art galleries or wineries if they are in the $50 – $70 per person range. Thanks!

mnl2017 : The Cranbury Inn is lovely and starts at $60.- I don’t have experience with them but have friends who do, and they loved it.

- Wedding: March 2017 - Allentown Brew Works
I know it’s not NJ but depending how far you’re willing to go, my wedding is going to be at the Allentown Brew Works (I know of some Jersey brides who have chosen this venue as well) and it is fantastic. They have a $5,000 event minimum but that minimum is very achievable. It can go as cheap or expensive as you want. You can do buffet instead of plated, cash bar, beer and wine open, or full open, as many or few appetizers as you like, etc etc. We’re expecting around 90 guests and even with plated meals and beer & wine open bar ours worked out to be $6,200.

mnl2017 : I can’t remember the exact numbers, but I believe when I contacted Valenzano Winery last year they had prices near the range you are looking for. They do all their pricing through the caterers they offer, so you might be able to get this cheaper if you contact each caterer and see their prices.
Valenzano has some nice reception spaces, and more of an indoor/outdoor space so it wouldn’t be much of an outdoor issue. Plus, they have some of the best wine in Jersey!

Try the Westwood in Garwood. I am getting married their and the prices are very reasonable and the food is excellent. I have 100 people but they are multiple rooms so it is worth a shot! Their website has all of their packages/pricing too so you can look before if you would like. Best of luck bee!

mnl2017 : If you’re open to finding a venue in the tri-state area, I suggest looking on Partyspace.com. You can search by capacity, date, and county. I found it really useful when I was online searching for a particular venue that Fiance and I wanted in the Philly area. Good luck and don’t stress!
