misstomorris : Cancun! or Cabo San Lucas.
In Cacun area, theres a place called, Tulum. Very beautiful; white sandy beaches, and blue/clear waters. There are ancient pyramids that you can visit and climb up as well. You can go underground swimming or canoeing in “cenotes”; underground caves that every once in awhile you’ll see opening in the ground above and vines will be hanging down. Surreal.
Cancuns parks, like X-plor, Xel-ha, and x-carat are amazing. Must see. You can see jaguars from ziplining up above, and ride your own atv. They have newer parks as well. 🙂

Subscribe to the Travelzoo Top 20. There are constantly deals on there and most of them leave from east coast airports and include travel and hotels for super cheap.
We are going to Greece for our honeymoon, but Spain and France are also great destinations. Also, have you looked into Iceland? I know you can get packages there at really reasonable prices. Other options if you want the beach are Croatia in Europe or Costa Rica is definitely on our bucket list! If you are looking for adventure, we went to Machu Picchu a couple of years ago and Peru was AMAZING!

Dear God don’t go anywhere in the deep South in August unless you want to be a miserable sweaty mess the entire time. I say this as someone who lives on the Gulf Coast and is frequently a miserable sweaty mess. You couldnt pay me to go to Orlando in August.

Lots of parts of Europe are very cheap! In Sicily, for example hotels were running us $45 a night, and VERY fancy dinners were like $20 a person. I got a ticket to Paris last year roundtrip for $450. So look around before you declare it impossible!

misstomorris : Do you have to take your honeymoon right after the wedding? Would you consider waiting a few months? That way hurricane season would be over and you could do the cruise / caribbean. Plus you’d be able to save during that time & put it towards the trip.
I agree with the other posters – Europe really shouldnt be out of the question. There are many affordable cities. (again if you wait until peak travel season is over – you’d save even more). If that is something you decide – don’t forget about accomodations, food, drink etc.
I found staying in an airbnb with a full kitchen helped save some $$ since we could make breakfast “at home”, reheat leftovers etc. Plus you could do laundry there which means traveling with just a carryon & you’d save on baggage fees too!
Keep us updated!!

FutureMrsBex : Very sound advice. In my *New Englander* mind, “Meh, it won’t be so bad.” So, I’m glad to have your perspective. Charleston is crossed off the list. 🙂
ihavespace : We definitely want to go right after the wedding. A friend of ours waited to go until October (after their July wedding) and I just found it pointless (which I obv didn’t/wouldn’t voice, but it helped me to know that that’s not for us).
Thank you for all of the responses, guys!!! I’m going to go on groupon today and see what inspires me. When I was looking at flights to Europe, I was looking out of Bradley, not Logan – ugh I hate Hartford’s airport! Anyway, I will update soon! 🙂
