@SimplyChic11:  I can only answer a few of these since as you know, I am in the same place you are =)  But, I know of multiple people who got pregnant their first cycle off BCP, so yes, it’s definitely POSSIBLE.  My BFF got pregnant literally the first time they had sex after she went off the pill, not even just in the first cycle!  I imagine that how likely that is obviously depends on your personal cycle, health, etc. but it definitely CAN happen.  So sorry to hear about your miscarriage…I don’t have any helpful advice there, unfortunately. =(  The third thing is exactly what my dr. told me – I think that different people just have different preferences as to being off for a certain number of cycles first, but my dr. said there was no medical reason for that (at least given my health/history).  I do think it can make it easier to figure out an exact conception date if you give it some time to let your cycle regulate, chart, etc. but all my dr. said was “take a multivitamin with at least 400mg folic acid, stop the pills, and come back to see me when you’re pregnant” so I think you are fine with what you’re doing. =)  Good luck!!

I am in the same boat too. This is my first cycle off BCP. I don’t even know when AF will get here. It was due on this past Monday night based on my BCP cycle but I’m pretty sure I ovulated last Wednesday based on my CM. The CM really freaked me out lol, I had to google it to even see what it was. So I guess if AF isn’t here by the end of next week I will be taking a test. It is definitely possible to get pregnant on the first cycle and since you’ve been on vitamins with sufficient frolic acid there is no reason to wait.

@greenviolets:  so this is probably a stupid question, but how did you know when to test? I have no idea what my cycles will be like after being on BCP so long, so I don’t know if its totally jumping the gun to do it around the time I would have gotten my period if i was still on or what….

@Mrs.JA:  Not a stupid question at all. I had no idea when I would ovulate. I just tested based on when I would have started my period on BCP. Actually I jumped the gun a little and tested before. All BFN. I got my BFP the day I should have started when I was on BCP.

Another long term pill user here!  Its been about 13 years on the pill and just got off in June.  Took a good 6 weeks for my first period to arrive and now it has been every 32 days.  I am crazy about charting on Fertility Friend, easy app to use, to not only find my ovulation dates but to figure out when my period is coming!  After 13 years of knowing AF would arrive on Wednesday at 5pm it sucks to go back to not knowing when and just waiting to ruin some underwear!

You certainly can get pregnant for your first cycle off– it’s one of those annoying things where you have to be ready for it but can’t expect it. As far as when to test, my doctor actually told me to wait one cycle off of the pill to start trying, mostly so I WOULD know when to test and they would have a better estimate of due date, but said it wasn’t totally necessary. For me, I would test after about a month, then once a week until I got my period. Which is annoying but what can you do? Get dollar store tests so you don’t go broke!

And being crazy hormonal after stopping is 100% normal.

I can tell you my first cycle off was the worst in terms of hormones, and it was around 40 days. Since then, the hormones have calmed down and cycles around around 30 days. I have been charting so I know Ive been ovulating every cycle (we were avoiding until this month though). I read that the younger you are, the faster you bounce back, and I’m almost 10 years old than you. I think you will be just fine, but I can certainly understand the worries, even if you logically know you shouldn’t worry. The best advice I could give would be to take it one day at a time and just take care of yourself in general. Good luck!
