I look forward to weddings for the dessert and especially for the cake. I’m not a cake snob though, if you served up sheet cake, I would be all over that. I don’t think you should just have a small cake for cutting though without something cakey to offer the guests. If I saw the cake and couldn’t eat any, I would be so disappointed. I’m a fat kid at heart though, so I’m a cake oriented person 🙂

I love pizza… but I HAVE to have something sweet after a good meal. I love coffee and cake or a cookie at a wedding. If you guys were cutting a cake and cake didn’t come around, I would probably wonder where MY piece of cake was 🙁 ….. I’m a pittsburgh girl and here we do cookie tables and wedding cake, and people LOVE love LLOOOOVE those cookie tables. Sweets tables are still pretty popular. Maybe you could do mini cupcakes or something? As much as I think a wedding should be all about the bride and groom… I still believe in being a good hostess and providing your guests with what you think they would like. If it were me, I’d probably not go all crazy with dessert, but have a little something (maybe even small chocolates as favors) and then do the pizza too. We did have a ton of cake leftover, but that was because I ordered one per guest and at least 20 guests no showed/ blew us off/ were ill/ had emergencies. It was my own fault but I’m the type where I’d rather be safe than sorry, and it was really easy to get rid of our delicious cake the next few days after our wedding!

So are you cutting a cake but not giving any to your guests? If you’re not having cake for guests, then you shouldn’t be cutting it. You could cut your pizza!
If i am totally misunderstanding the situation, then we’re doing the same thing! We’re having cake, no extra desserts, and late-night pizza.
