So gorgeous! I have a garnet and love it. There’s no law that says you have to have a diamond.

I say go for it! It’s really pretty and if you think it’s more of a reflection of you than a diamond, why wouldn’t you want it? You should also check out morganite…that’s really pretty too.

Get what reflects you!!  I have a blue sapphire ring and adore it.  I didn’t want a diamond either.  It is amazing the compliments I get on it.

Your ring is beautiful! Go with what you like. I also have a blue sapphire ring. Just not really a huge diamond girl!

@DeathByDesign: If you EVER find a place to get the blue moissy, let me know. I want one SO badly!

Diamonds aren’t the be-all, end-all of engagement rings. If they’re not your personality, I think it’s more than OK to get something different, and that pink stone is gorgeous! If you want it, don’t let anyone talk you out of it!

@SapphireBride1008:

That’s so similiar to what I want!!  Gorgeous!

OP: that pink is so pretty and delicate – I love the band on the first one!  Go for it!  I really dislike colorless stones since it’s just not my style and I like color and drama.  We always joke that we’re going to have a non-wedding wedding because we’d only be getting married for ‘make our lives easier’ reasons.  So I told him the other night that when he gets me my non-wedding engagement ring that I want either yellow, blue or orange sapphire (lab created preferably) and he can choose the color, lol.  But he knows I’d freak and return it if he got me a diamond or any other colorless stone….or if he spends more than like, $400.  I don’t really wear jewelry and see no need to buy something expensive.

I really love the first one, it looks like a rose petal resting on snow. 🙂

I’m going white sapphire because I wanted a colorless stone but couldn’t find a diamond I thought was “worth it.” I would just stand there and be like “Diamond ring vs. paying off law school”…guess what won?

My mom tried to talk me into a diamond, then I put a garnet on in a store and a dark blue sapphire. I cleverly asked the sales girl to bring over any diamond in the same price range…yeah, low quality speck alert. Needless to say, mom came around.

Obviously, it’s never just about the price, but I would rather pay X for something I LOVE than 2X for something I LIKE.

That band is stunning!!  I love e-ring gemstones.  I wanted a colorless stone, so I went with moissanite.  I love the character that is in gemstone rings.
