Hi Bees! Did any of you decide on you or your maids carrying anything other than a flower bouquetes? I want something different. Something that will last and not overpriced and will die in a few days. Maybe giant pinwheels or something. Your thoughts? With a July 4th wedding I feel like I can do almost anything!!

@g1mase2: I will be carrying a brooch boquet and my maids will have “pearl bouquets”. I found the idea on Pinterest

I googled bouquet alternatives and saw all sorts of interesting things. Pinwheels, fans, a bunch of fruit. Someone had a candy bouquet. Lots made from beads or broaches and buttons.

Since it will be the 4th of July, how about sparklers? 😉

@g1mase2: I vote for lit roman candles. Totally an unforgettable tribute to the bride and groom.
I’m having my ladies drag up lobster traps. It’s a regional thing. Ha ha. They better not snag my runner!!

Those are some great ideas. I think the roman candles especially could really help give my wedding the pizzazz it’s currently lacking.
edit: I have been searching for an occasion to post this video on WB, I think this might finally be it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HTMigu5ubj8&index=7&list=LLXXHJpTqsWO6yXERXGbahiA

4th of July? How about flags?
I like this idea, it’s cute:

I think you have several options. I was going to do Whirly pops. like make them into a bouquet. we ultimately decided against it but i think that or flags or balloons would be cute.

How about lanters, watering cans, parasoles, kissing balls made of pinwheels or butterflys, or if you want to go with the holiday, how about kissing balls made of flags and diy fireworks? Storybook roses or cloth flowers are an option too…
My girls are carrying lanterns that match our centerpieces as our wedding is at sunset in October.
Ohhh, how about grapevine balls with lights inside or made to look like a kissing ball??
Hope that helps a little bit. 🙂

@Manda613: I’m going to have a brooch one too!!!

Thanks for so many great ideas!!! I’m really trying to stay away from the July 4th theme, so my red, with & blues are going to very subltle and here & there. I’m not going to use a flag as my dress!!! lol. My girls are wearing royal blue dresses and I was thinking maybe a splash of red with like a flower in their hair. not really sure yet. I did come across some glass roses about 12 inches long, maybe they could carry those?

What about a real single stem rose?

How about something like this, but short and in more “bouquet form”

Parasols — fun and colour.
Bubble blowers (bubble guns) — awesome for pictures and gives an element of fun.
Pretty much anything hand-held??
