Sorry bee! That weekend will be crazy. When you say within 40 minutes, are you including Warwick/East Greenwich hotels? There are several by the airport I’d be surprised if they were all booked, but they could be. That should be about 45ish minutes depending on your venue? Alternatively there are hotels in Swansea/Fall River that will also be 30-45 min. away depending, have you looked there? Good luck, I hope you find something!

sar07rx :  What about Providence and bus people?  I think that there are a decent number of hotels in the Groton area?  That is probably right at the 40 minute mark?

Did you try the Hampton Inn in South County Commons or the Aqua Blue in Narragansett? Narragansett is not far from Newport at all.

sar07rx :  I’m sure you have probably checked, but what about the Holiday Inn in Kingstown?

South Kingstown has a holiday inn that is fairly clsoe to the Newport exit off rt 1. Ocean Rose Inn is a newer hotel in Narragansett you could try. I would look into the Narragansett, North Kingstown and South Knigstown areas. They are not far from Newport.

I’ve been to a wedding at Newport, and the local hotels were *expensive*. We paid something like $400 for one night in a really old room in poor condition and it was the best I could find even though I booked our hotel room 6 months in advance. Subsequently, most guests who couldn’t afford those kind of prices stayed at least an hour out. Guests definitely left on the earlier side since they had a long drive ahead. So honestly you were probably going to have to deal with this problem anyway if your friends aren’t wealthy. If you want a wedding where people stay longer, you’ll unfortunately have to find the budget for busing (both ways) in your budget.

Is it truly too late to reconsider your date and/or location?  I’m sure you’re panicked because you realize as a guest, it would feel very inconvenient to have to drive potentially an hour (or more!) to and from a wedding, especially if they’ve also traveled to be there.  Rather than trying to fit a square peg into a round hole, it might be less stressful to reimagine a new setting for your day.
