When she gave you the original quote, was it written with a breakdown?

Maybe it’s a typo and she mean $1800? lol Let’s hope so! Where do you live that it costs $7800 for cheese and crackers for 50 people?? We’re spending about $6000 for a full 3 course buffett for 200!

That has to be wrong, hopefully she’ll get back to you soon.

It has to be a typo.  My venue (granted, venue only, no set-up, no food, etc) is $6,000…. in downtown DC, on a Saturday night.  And it’s a big ol’ fancy historic building.

Can you email her the original quote and ask why it went up more than 300%?

Yes, and if she still sounds vague, run in the opposite direction.  I may be wise for you to get just a coordinator to help you find a venue and negotiate your budget and you pay them a nominal fee.  Beats going crazy and being taken advantage of, and you’ll get what you are looking for.  Good luck!

When she emailed you back with the $6200 did it include a cost breakdown? But I’m glad you found two more options!

@Randi156:  This is so odd. Where is the breakdown showing exactly where the $$ is going? It seems she is arbitrarily picking numbers here. I’d cross reference with someone else at this venue, CC on emails to find out the real story. You might be able to have your venue just going a different route through someone that knows what they’re doing/has better customer service skills.

Otherwise, yes I agree, shop around elsewhere. Better to have a lovely place with peace of mind than an outstanding looking place but with poor service. If they’re this sucky now, what will it be like a week before and the day of your wedding? Eep! Good luck to you!
