This is similar to your situation, but it’s my side of the family. I don’t have biological parents in my life. My father passed away, and my mother has never been a part of my life. My grandmother is my parental figure, so it does make it a little trickier to plan the wedding. For example, am I supposed to have a grandmother/granddaughter dance? Who walks me down the aisle?

Im in a similar position. My FI’s parents are both deceased. I met his father and got to know him for a year before he died but I never  got to meet his mother, whom he always says would love me. She passed away 6 years ago.  My father and only brother are both deceased as well, so no one will be walking me down the aisle.

We are having a memorial attendant to walk down the aisle and place white roses on the pews for the four of them and both our grandparents (who are all deceased). Im thinking of getting Fiance some gold cuff links with pics of his parents in them, just so he can have them near on the wedding day.

My FI’s parents have also unfrotunately passed away.  They both died of different illnesses when he was a teenager so I didn’t get the chance to meet them.  Fortunately he has amazing siblings and is the most resilient person I know.  His mom’s best friend will be travelling from abroad to celebrate with us on our wedding day and I know that means a lot to him.

My FI’s parents passed away within six months of eachother about two years before we met. My father died this year and I dont speak with my mom…..we are like orphans together. I had always dreamed of becoming a daughter in law to someone’s awesome parents and getting the family I never had. It’s funny how things work out but I am very happy with the way it has so far.
