I can hear the announcments now…
Come one, come all, to the greatest show on earth!
These sort of things don’t happen every day – it’s a wedding!
Tickets starting as low as $50!
Box office seating for the reasonable cost of $500!
Special rate for the parents of the bride – we’re only asking for $1,000 each! The parents of the groom, $5,000 each, please!
Step right up!

I would draw a hand, flipping the bird on my RSVP (“ticket order form”) and that would be the end of that relationship… good riddance!

@mchitt329:  WHAT!?!  I’m sure her wedding will be well attended and by that I mean nobody over the age of 15 is going to shell out money to attend someone’s wedding.  I would take that invitation and throw it in the garbage along with the bride’s phone number and address.

@MrsPanda99:  I have a jar of expired pennies I could put in a sock and use to knock some sense into her.

HA!  I was confused for a moment until I saw you are in Canada.  We haven’t “expired” our pennies yet here in the States but I have a jar of them myself.

No way! I would not attend a wedding if I was invited like that.

If this were one of my family members I’d feel like I’d have to go out of family obligation/support.  For that reason, I feel sorry for her family.

Depending on who it is, I’d give 50 to attend. I wouldn’t be thrilled with how it was presented, but if someone important is getting married, I’ll do what is needed to attend. If they’re that close, though, I probably would have been told they were planning on charging admission and had a  “Really, friend, really? Bad ideas are bad” moment.

seriously?  why would any bride or groom think this is acceptable?

a wedding is supposed to be a celebration of a marriage with close family and friends; not a fund raiser.  i think this is taking it too far.  i would be totally offended.

Please let this go viral, please let this go viral.

It would be far better for this couple to find out now how heinous this idea is than to get to the wedding day and have 4 guests.  I’m gonna guess they will have enough honeymoon stipend to go to the corner Starbucks.

Absolutely revolting.  There is no amount of family obligation or pressure that would make me attend this shindig.
