Quick Facts –> Have been with SO for 7.5 years we are 24 and 25, and we will both be done school in april.
OK so some of you may recognise me from befor christmas when I was in full on waiting crazy mode, like haveing full on breakdowns weekly and generally feeling sad and depressed.
Since chrustmas I have been having a much better time waiting, for a couple of reasons.
1) he has started a ring fund… YAY!
2) I have started working out. I have never liked working out, but its been great. My main motivation is to look good in engagment pics and teh eventaul wedding pics. I actully thought the other day that I was happy that i had time between now and egengemnet time to get in better shape (im thinking he will pop the question some time this summer),
Also have been watching Say Yes to the Dress non stop and SO dosnt mind! he even brings up wedding related things!!
Just want to share my change in perspective with you lovely supportive ladies.
It can get better, dont let it drive you to crazy, but if it does drive you crazy know that there is an end and you can get your mind back!

I too, have been driving myself completely bananas, especially with VDay coming up …. ugh I swear this Hallmark holidays completely messes with our psyche!!!
Good for you for starting to work out! Not only does it get your mind of things, it also makes you feel good about yourself!! Good job :))

Aww that’s wonderful news!! I am happy for you, and thank you for the encouragement! Sometimes it just helps to know steps are actually being made towards that special day and makes the waiting easier and more enjoyable.

That’s great! I’m sort of in the same boat… I was going a little crazy for a month or so, but now I’m trying to enjoy myself and our relationship 🙂
I agree that working out is a GREAT way to get your mind off of it/ setting other goals for yourself to spend time thinking about.

@Bookaholic: wow, you sound just like me! Well, mostly…I’ve started working out, and am happy I have time to lose weight before we start getting all sorts of attention! I too think it will happen this summer, and in 4 weeks I’ve lost 10 pounds. My goal is to lose about 60, so I should be able to lose all the weight I want to by the middle of the summer! And, like you, I’ve also been watching say yes to the dress, and my SO always watches it with me! He says he really enjoys watching it with me, because it reminds him of what’s to come!
However, I’m still a little crazy about waiting… Mostly because he keeps saying what he plans to spend his money on the next year… And he never mentions a ring! It must be coming though… I think he trying to throw me off the trail, LOL! Happy waiting to you! 🙂

girl you sound like me! Im also 24 (him 25) and have been with my SO for 8.5 years last month. I was having a very hard ‘waiting’ period like you have too. About a month ago I decided to just take care of myself and put most of my focus on diet, work, my pets and just enjoy the waiting period as much as possible… Now that it has been a month I have lost 10 pounds (10 to go!) and just feel so much better all around. And i agree, Im glad i have more time now so that i can workout and get fit so that i dont feel like a whale in my engagement & wedding pics……. Im even hoping for a summer proposal just as you are! (our anniversary is in July)…. we are waiting bee twins!!!!!

@cdenise89: We really are very similar… Our Anniversary is in July as well!

Love this! I feel the same way. Ever since SO and I had a timeline talk in early January and since he’s starting his ring fund this month, I have been completely calm and haven’t brought anything up once ..he has actually been the one to bring it up a few times (like your SO)! Now that I know we’re for sure on the same page and that it’s coming, I feel so much more at ease. Here’s to a hopefully crazy free year!

I think he officially brings it up more then I do… the other day he showed me a drawing that he did that he thought would be cute on wedding invitations… I nearly died with happiness!

I, too, have started working out. Mostly to tone up and lose some weight, but also because I want to look g-o-o-d in our engagement and wedding pictures! & I’m also in my two best friends weddings this summer!
