Best news! I’m going to marry my best friend!
We went on a trip to NC this weekend, and things couldn’t have been more perfect. We saw all the fall leaves, spent time at some great breweries and restaurants, and we spent true quality time together.
We had three full days to enjoy, and on the morning of our second day, he came across the perfect opportunity to propose. Our AirBnB was on a creek, and while I was finishing getting dressed for our breakfast date, our host walked him up to see the area above the cottage… which was a full-on waterfall. He mentioned to our host that he wanted to propose… and lo and behold! Our host is a hobbyist photographer and offered to take photos.
So, he came to get me from the cottage, promising that it wasn’t a far walk, and we could still make our reservation on time if I came to see the creek and did my makeup on the car ride into town. Okay, I’m game.
We get to the top of the creek, and it’s absolutely stunning. Landings, bridge, and all. I’m standing on one of the landings with him, admiring the waterfall, and went to take his hand… and he wasn’t very responsive. I was kind of confused and turned to look at him to ask if he was okay, if there was some reason he wasn’t wanting to hold hands, and then I saw the look on his face. Oh sh!t! Big moment. Okay!
He choked out a few lines about how happy I make him, how much he wants what we have to be forever, and finally got to the big question! Of course, I said yes, also choked up, hugged him forever, and then focused on the stunning ring.

Everything was perfect.
