Well, it really happened. I really did lose my job this morning. See this post:
Second time being laid off in 18 months.
All I can think of is how the heck can I justify the wedding we have been planning when I have no idea how long it will take to find work?
Oh no I’m so sorry! Do you think you can cut back on the wedding to make it less expensive so you don’t feel as bad about it?
It was already an inexpensive wedding. We aren’t that financially deep into it (meaning very few dollars have been spent) so there are a lot of changes we can make. I guess we shall see.

I remember from the other post you said you were going to work on your interview skills and spruce up your resume. Have you had a chance to do that yet?
Oh no! I’d been reading your posts and was super sorry to see this one 🙁 Life just sucks sometimes! It’s good you don’t have a lot of money invested so far. Do you have any prospects or anything? I don’t really have any advice. I really am sorry to heat that. Good Luck!!

I’m so sorry hunny! I imagine this is a major let down. I hope you can both come up with a different vision for your wedding. And, I hope you’re able to find a new position soon!

@MissAsB – Not yet. I only got laid off this morning, so for today I’m just working around the house.
I’m telling my other half later tonight, didn’t want to bug him at work with news he can’t change. No real prospects because I hadn’t been looking, I guess? It took me 10 months to find this position after being laid off at the beginning of the economic downturn, I work in an industry that is heavily influenced by economic conditions.
I’m actually about as positive as I can be. I’m not really scared (probably because I’ve been through this before.)

I know it’s tough. It seems like it might be a bit easier to find a job now than it was before, the economy is growing again for the first time in a year. I hope you find something soon!

::HUGS:: I know what it is like to get laid off. Good luck finding a job and planning your wedding.
I’m sorry to hear that! 🙁 I hope things turn around for you soon!

I’m so sorry about this situation. Best of luck finding something new. I hope your wedding plans don’t suffer too much from it.

Sorry to hear that. I have been in the same boat before, I’m in advertising so we are always the first to get cut whenever the economy goes down (as it has been for the last few years). I was laid off in Feb 2008 and Feb 2009…thankfully made it past the Feb 2010 layoffs without being affected. I hate February. Keep your head up and hopefully something will come your way soon!
I would find ways to cut back on the wedding expenses…all that really matters is that you are getting married. It will be special because of the marriage not the flowers or other extras. 🙂

((Hugs)) I’m supposedly in a recession resistant occupation, but I’m looking for a job for the 2nd time in a year…so much for healthcare being a secure occupation. 🙁 I hope your employer gives you a good reference since that’s what’s currently killing my job search an employer being mad at me and taking it out by giving a bad reference. ((Hugs)) and I hope you find a new job soon!

Aw I am sorry 🙁 I have been laid off for over a year. However for me it felt like a blessing since I was able to go to beauty school and pay it all off with my unemployment checks. So now I have my College degree as well as a trade to fall back on. My unemployment has now been extended until after the honeymoon so I get to plan the wedding stress free 🙂

im so sorry that you’re going through this AGAIN. i was laid off last year for about 4 months right in the middle of when we were house hunting… it was definitely nerve wracking having to figure out alternative plans, if we could do it at all, etc.
good for you for having such a positive attitude. it’s a horrible situation, but you are right, somehow things WILL work out.
like i always tell my mom (who’s been in and out of financial troubles for the last few years)… there are so many ppl in worse situations and they find the will to get up and move forward everyday… we should be grateful for things we are blessed with instead of the things we don’t have…
i hope everything comes together for your wedding without too much stress added onto your daily life.
keep us posted in the job hunt, we are all rooting for you!
