@Ms Rocky Point:  are you sure the hotel hasn’t messed up? our hotel has been a nightmare- consistently telling people there is no block or that the block is full and then booking them at the regular rate. That way, when we look at the list of our guests there are lots of names missing, but those people have booked a room. I spoke to my gfs who have been married recently, and apparently this problem is common! 2 of my 3 gfs had real problems with their guests being able to get in the block. It’s a possibility

@Ms Rocky Point:  We had the same thing. We only had 75 people at our wedding, but 65 were Out of Town. And the day before the hotel blocks ended (only two hotels downtown, both within walking distance) we had 3 rooms booked.

I asked all of the bridal party and they got on the ball and booked their rooms-i guess they just didn’t think about it? Or maybe thought we were covering it??

Then I texted/emaield reminders to anyone I knew would need a room. We actually had a lot of people drive 3-5 hours back home after the wedding. Also, many people will get a room somewhere else-it may be further but it might be cheaper too.

@Ms Rocky Point:  one suggestion- call and try to pose as a guest and get your wedding rate. when i did this they told me that it was full even though nobody booked! i was livid. also ask around about people who you know are out of town who you are surprised are not on there. They may have tried to book within the block that’s another way we found out that our hotel was screwing up

I had the same problem–my Out of Town guests all were going to stay in one close to all the activities but i noticed a couple of weeks before the wedding that the only room booked was a parent of one of the Groomsmen. It ended up being because my Out of Town friends wanted to stay downtown, closer to the party scene. It only sucked because I had booked that particular hotel AFTER talking to them about locations and they agreed that it would be fine! How annoying. A lot of people are last-minute, so it could very well be that.
