I love this setting, which many like too, however the center stone shape I want is not as accepted. I want the pear shape. I love it and it think it fits both me individually and our relationship. Also I want something that very few people will have. I like to be different, always have, and I tend to get bored. Something so safe and common (no offense to anyone) as a round or princess I think will bore me after the first year or two. My family wants me to pick Emerald. Want some pear support and/or decision advice. 🙂 Sorry for big pics

I think you should get what you want and get it because it’s what you love and not because it’s what others want you to have.

I think you should get what you want and not really worry about standing out or pleasing your family. This ring will be on your finger for a long time and you should love it.
I have learned that there really isn’t much out there that hasn’t been done or won’t be done in the future. Trends are funny like that and what isn’t popular now might be in a few years. Even pears have been gaining in popularity recently.
Get what you love!

You should get what you want

I love the first one!… Mine is a little similar because it has that bridge of diamonds also.
No one should be influencing your decision! Get what you want, who cares what anyone else thinks!

get what you want, and what makes you happy!

OP, get the one you like. Don’t worry whether it’s common, uncommon, family-approved, or whatever. You’re going to be the one wearing it for the next however many years, no matter what the current trends, and no matter where you live, etc. So go for the one that appeals to you. And don’t let your family’s opinion sway you!

Thanks everyone. That is the hard part is I like them both so I can please everyone or pick the one a bit different/rebelious. I have always been that way (devils advocate in a sense).
Did anyone else have such a hard time chosing “ONE forever perfect dream ring”? LOL

I like the pear the best. The first setting seems a little too high or something

I am biased, I finally settled on the pear cut myself (only took about 2 years to figure that out, lol). It looks unique to me and I love how it looks on my hand.
I wanted a princess but got a round. Then I wanted to switch it to a cushion as a compromise. Nothing felt right until I tried on a 2ct diamond pear in a store. It was love at first site and ever since I’ve been researching for an alternative stone in that size in our price range. (I chose ForeverBrilliant pear moissanite, can’t wait to see it in a setting)

@MrsTVLover: The first setting is 100% mine LOL Just between the pear shape center stone or Emerald. The high cathedral is exactly what I love about it 😀

@Artificial-Sweetener: The first one is just to show the setting I am getting. I love the top being plain but the sides having the accents. I am not into paved bands otherwise. Also I love how high the cathedral is. I looked at a picture of your ring, amazingly gorgeous!
I just figuring out between Pear and Emerald. I think I need to find a jeweler who has both on plain bands and see what feels right or is “love at first sight”.

@always_the_bridesmaid: I think the only other person that might get to have an opinion would be the young gentleman giving it to you!

I like the pear one a lot. Looking at your setting, you’d probably have to get the ring re-made entirely to keep it. I had a similar style that I liked (without the little diamonds) and wanted to swap the stone from circular to marquise, and they said they couldn’t on that particular style because they have to pop the prongs off the band
