Stress really can be a factor! I’ve gotten my period a few days late before, and both times it was due to an exceptionally high amount of stress. It’s not a stretch to assume that the same thing might be happening to you, but then again, bodies change over time. I used to never get period cramps, and all of the sudden about a year ago I started getting them every month! My doctor said it was no big deal, it just happens sometimes. As regular as your cycle may be, there are plenty of reasons besides pregnancy for it to start changing.

I would not discount stress.  I would wait another few weeks and then get some blood work run to make sure there is not something else happening.

During my TTC journey there was one month where my period was 10 days late for no reason. I’m usually 28-31 days, so thats pretty close to regular. I’ll never know for sure if I missed a chemical pregnancy or it was just all the stress…but it was annoying and upsetting just the same.

throwaway1359 :  After TTC for almost 3 years, I can tell you that when I started charting my periods, I realized that a) my periods weren’t as regular as I always thought they were (they ranged from 27-31 days), b) I ovulated on a different cycle day each month (some time between day 12 and 16 which is what impacted on my total cycle days), and c) the period symptoms that I thought were the same each month were actually different.  Some months I have ridiculous cramps, nausea, sore breasts, etc.  Other months it was the migraines and back pain that were bad.

That being said, just because you don’t have a positive test yet may just mean the test isn’t sensitive enough if you have low HCG levels right now.  I recommend that you test again tomorrowusing a FRER!

I wouldn’t discount stress either.  My cycle was pretty regular but once time I traveled right around when I normally O and it pushed it back 3-4 days.  And it was only a 2 hour plane trip, I just hate flying sometimes.  Stress can totally delay O, which will then delay your period.

If you’re getting negative tests then you are not pregnant right now.  I would just take another cheap test in a few days until you get your period (they’re $1 at the dollar store).

I believe stress is a factor. I panicked when my period was a couple weeks late and took a bunch of pregnancy tests–all came out negative–and I did end up getting my period a couple days after. I suggest you wait it out and see what happens. My period is usually pretty regular too, which is why I panicked like you are now. If it still doesn’t come after three weeks, head to the doctor!

(I hope you still aren’t with your Fiance now–cheating with an underage girl?! Tsk tsk.)

throwaway1359 :  Hmm, well it might just be that you ovulated late this month due to all of the stress you went through with your ex-fiance.  I hope you’re doing ok!

throwaway1359 :  those early result ones won’t matter (vs. cheapo ones).  The problem is, without confirming when exactly you ovulated (via temping or medical intervention), you can’t be 100% sure when your period is due.  Your period is due approx 10-16 days after you ovulate.  It’s the period before ovulation/ovulation that can get delayed or become lengthy (probably due to stress in your case).  So if your period is late, it is either because you’re pregnant (which right now, you’re not) or because you have ovulated later than normal.  Since you don’t know when ovulation occured, it’s just a waiting game now.

Based on what you wrote, you’ve recently experienced an intense emotional trauma and are under major stress. You could definitely retest in a few days, but as someone who also is like clockwork, that much stress going on would totally knock me off my cycle.
