Dogmummy:  I just don’t think your period is due yet. If you got a + OPK on 5/24, you probably ovulated 1-2 days later, so 5/25 or 5/26ish. Then a normal luteal phase is 10-15ish days, so I would expect your period any time between 6/4 on the early end and 6/10 on the late end.

It’s doubtful your tests are incorrect.  It’s also possible to get a +OPK and not ovulate.  So there’s no guarantee that you ovulated around the time of your +OPK.  Were you temping to confirm?

Dogmummy:  It is possible to be pregnant, but it sounds more likely that you’re just really late or skipped this month (both of which are normal). I’ve been in both situations before.

Hopefully you find out soon. 🙂

Dogmummy:  Is it your first month off birth control, or just first month charting?

Dogmummy:  Oh, gotcha. Well, you would be around 19-20 DPO then, so you’d for sure be getting a positive pregnancy test if you were pregnant. More likely, you had the LH surge, which was detected by your OPK, but then your body failed to ovulate. It happens. You might have had another LH surge and ovulated later, or you might be having an anovulatory cycle. Temping is pretty great, because it would help you know which if those things is going on!

Dogmummy:  I wouldn’t call it skipping a period.  It could end up being an annovulatory cycle, or it could just be a crazy long cycle.  I was regular 28-32 days for 7 cycles.  Then on my 8th cycle charting (this cycle) I’m now on CD30 with no O yet.  So it could just be a one off thing… I hope your period (or +HPT if that’s what you’re hoping) comes soon. 🙂

This just happened to me last month. I was 2 weeks late with 3 negative tests. I ended up going for my yearly dr app and he said that if it wasn’t for women being concerned over missed or irregular periods, he wouldn’t be in business…I guess it’s that common. He said that lots of things can delay a cycle and I ended up taking progesterone, which brought on my period but it ended up being almost 3 weeks late.

Stress can cause long cycles… We lost two months, well three, our first go around because i was so stressed my cycles got out of whack… It was so sad because I had convinced myself I was pregnant… And 8 months later when we finally conceived I convinced myself I wasn’t 😞
