SO said several months ago that he would propose before the end of 2012. It’s 2013 and no proposal.
I’m going to sit down with him sometime this week and see what’s on his mind about this. I’m assuming that there’s a reason why he didn’t propose within the timeline that he set, probably one that is out of his control and that he is going to propose soon.

@misscherrylimeade: I am in the same situation. i want to say something but what if he wants to next week? i dont want to ruin it.

Maybe he’s in the process of ordering the ring and it’s taken longer than usual, or it could be that it’s taking longer than anticipated to get funds for the ring, or the reason could be completely unrelated to the proposal, such as waiting to complete a major milestone, ie graduation, etc. I’d speak with him to get a more definitive timeline.

Talked to SO. He says that the ring that he was planning to propose to me with was lost during Sandy and while the house where it was stored did have flood insurance, the deductible is rather high, and he is in the process of saving up to pay it. Then he will use the insurance funds to design and purchase a ring for me.
It was a family ring, although not an antique. It’s touching that he wanted to use it.

@misscherrylimeade: I’m so sorry about your ring being lost like that, but natural disasters happen (and thank goodness for insurance!!). I am sure your SO is doing everything he can to make this happen for you, and when it does happen it will be amazing. 🙂

@misscherrylimeade: Aw. I’m glad you talked to your SO. At least you know he wanted him to do it! I think I saw someone say something along the lines of this before: Think of it this way, it took a hurricane to keep him from proposing to you!
I’m sorry the family ring was lost, though 🙁
