Well, when you contacted them and either spoke to them or left a message did you give them a deadline? When is the absolute last day you have to have your final numbers in?

If you didn’t give them a deadline and just let them say I’ll get back to you tomorrow, then I would try one more time and make it clear that you must have an answer by noon on whatever day as you have to get your final numbers in and if you don’t hear from them you’ll assume they’re not  able to make it and will mark them as a no.

We had a few like this. Eventually we had to say we need a yes or no by x date or we’ll count you as a no if we don’t hear anything

I would leave them a message saying ” We have to give the caterer our final numbers and having not heard from you, and will have to consider you a no and will miss them at the wedding.”

Ugh, I hate people that do this – so rude!

It happened to me too though. If you haven’t already, make sure you call or ask in person. It’s a lot harder to blow someone off in real time than over email/text/message.

“I’m sorry to bother you again. We have to submit our final head count tomorrow so if we don’t hear from you today, we’ll have to interpret that as a no. Thanks for your understanding.”

I just said “Unfortunately, we have to give final numbers so if I don’t hear from you by tomorrow, we will consider you a no.”

Grown adults should be able to rsvp without a million reminders.

As PP said above. Don’t leave an option for a yes if they don’t respond. I had one woman who kept “forgetting” to RSVP for my shower and then my wedding. Apparently she is notorious for this. She and ger family showed up to both my shower and wedding without RSVPing. I returned the favor when her daughter (same age as me) got married and they had to chase me and others down for final count. Petty…yes I know. But it felt good.
