in my opinion, they aren’t a necessity…..i’m sending them however but not to all the guests, just the ones who are out of state and have to make travel arrangements…

I sent them and wish I hadn’t and found them unnecessary.  My personal thought is if you are close with people coming to your wedding they will be mostly in the know.  I’m sure most of those out of town know you are engaged and know your situation and have a pretty good idea of where you are getting married.  I think 3 months is more than enough time for someone to make travel plans. 
My save the dates caused more issues and confussion then they solved.

not necessary at all for you–they’re really just to help people who have to buy plane tickets and that kind of thing.

Im not doing them. While I do have a few Out of Town guests I am counting on word of mouth to get the job done. My mom hadnt even heard of Save-The-Date Cards until I got engaged 🙂
