you have a year to GIVE a gift, and they have a year to thank you for it.  So I would just wait.

However — (if other brides are out there reading this) — if I saw the giftgiver after the wedding (but before I finished their Thank You note), I always found a way to mention or just casually whisper “by the way, thank you so much for the generous gift/frying pan/napkin rings/etc”.  Other couples have done that to me and it makes a world of difference.   If you saw this couple already, I can imagine your confusion and i too would have wanted them to say “thanks for the gift!:-)”.   I think that is definitely the best etiquette on their part…

But yes, as everyone said, I think you should just wait…

I’m still waiting on a thank you note from a wedding 3 years ago (although they just divorced, so I am positive now I won’t be getting one…) and from a wedding in July 2011. Definitely not holding my breath anymore 🙂 I would wait a bit longer, ask your mutual friend if she received a thank you, and then leave it up to your Fiance, since it is his coworker. Not getting thank you’s sucks!
