Hi Bee’s
DH and I are not TTC although we have plans to start in June. We always use condoms and have been for 5 years. My period is due tomorrow and I have no usually symptoms. For the past few years I have always had pre menstual discharge 4 to 5 days prior to my period and I have nothing. I always have Breast tenderness and occasionally PMS and nothing. I’m trying not to get myself worked up but wanted to get yalls thoughts. Should I wait for my period or test?

This is how I knew I was pregnant a week before I could officially test, but my husband and I were actively trying so it wasn’t a shock.
In your case I would assume you maybe ovulated late and you may have a period a few days late or a lighter month this month. I was once 5 days late and really light and not pregnant with a previous partner so try not to stress too much!
Wait until you are a few days late and if Aunt Flo still hasn’t visited then take a test.

knpswp : katjen : totally possible I ovulated late. It’d just be really weird as I’ve had a 24 day cycle on time for over the last 6 months since I’ve been actively tracking. I also forgot to add that I have a white creamy discharge that I usually only see when I’m ovulating.

Anything can throw your period off a day or two. A bit of stress, travel, over training. If you’ve been using condoms carefully then I wouldn’t worry. If you’ve not bothered with them on an occasion or two then yup of course there’s a risk. If you’ve been safe though I reckon you’ll come on in a day or so.

Meant2Bee : Are you temping/charting your cycles? Did you confirm ovulation? Stress or a disruption in usual life events (i.e., a death, travelling, etc) can cause you to ovulate late. No matter how regular past cycles were, your cycle can always be subject to changes if you ovulate late. Your luteal phase (time between O and period) usually remains consisent, but cycle length can change with timing of O.

annonbee857 : I’m not temping just tracking the start and finish of my cycles so I’m not sure when I ovulated

Meant2Bee : Then its really hard to tell if you should be concerned or not. If you take a test, you should know pretty quickly.
If you haven’t already considered it, I would suggest downloading Fertility Friend (super easy to use) and buy a basal temperature thermometer ($7 on Amazon) to track temp. It takes like 1 minute in the morning and then you can confirm O. Then, no second guessing yourself whether or not your cycle is longer or if AF is due. 🙂

In my experience, many things can throw off your cycle, even when you are normally as regular as Old Faithful. And then once you start thinking about it, your symptoms can seem way, way off. This is often a trick of memory and not reality, though. Like PPs have said, there is no harm in testing, but it is far more likely that your cycle is slightly off for some reason.

Update: still no period but I took a test that was negative as expected. Must’ve ovulated later but I’m happy to know I have a few more months before we try

Bumping this thread: So 5 days and still no AF. I had a few tiny drops of light pink fluid but it went away. My close friend is an OB/GYN so I talked to her yesterday. She said even if I went to the Doctor there’s not much they could tell me. Instead she said to wait at least another WEEK before going in for a blood test. As stated early I took a test on the expected day of my period and it was negative. I’m thinking about buying another test after work…thoughts?

Meant2Bee : wow thats interesting.. I would definitely test today. When did you have the light pink spotting? They say that you wouldnt get a positive test until about 3 days after implantation if that is what that was. I would definitely test today though!!

Meant2Bee : it is worth testing every other day after your period is due if you are still not sure. Good luck!

teacherbee01 : I had light pink spotting Tuesday and then again this morning. I just went to the bathroom to check and nothing.
indiblue : Okay – if no period by end of work I’ll buy a cheapie. We were not trying and using condoms but I will trust in God if this is his plan for us.
