First post! So excited to be finally in the the process of planning the wedding after getting engaged this past January.
We are getting married in Nantucket next summer and think we have finally decided on a venue. I have one question though – for the open bar pricing there is no wine included, wine has to be bought ahead of time by the bottle. This seems strange to me. Is this normal? Or is it something you think could be negotiated?
Thanks! Looking forward to being a part of weddingbee!

Welcome to the Bee!
I can’t help you on this one, since we are buying all of our wine/liquor for the wedding.

Wine was included in our open bar package. Every place I looked into, that was the case. I can see them doing that a a winery or something, but yes, it seems a bit strange to me

I have never heard of something like that. From researching my own wedding, bartending at many places and catered I still have never heard that.

I’ve never heard of that, but Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard can be funny about that kind of thing. It’s actually probably cheaper to bring cases of wine rather than using their wine. People will definitely expect to have wine at a wedding, so I think you should consider having it. Where’s the wedding?!
