I’m getting married in a church with an outside officiant. The church we chose can have as much or no religion as you want (as you get to bring in your own officiant who can be non-religious)

If you want more details I can provide.

Look up Fairview Baptist Church. approx. $600 for the rental

Look up Roxanne Thorton (officiant) approx. $400 for her custom written ceremonies.

Cool!

By The Way if you’re interested in Roxanne, I know she books up really fast, so if you wanted her I suggest you get on that ASAP.

Alternatively if you’re not looking for a religious ceremony, you can always go with those court appointed officials they run at about $100 or less (really cheap).

Hello! there is an amazing Vancouver-area “master list” of all venues on Bride Things here: http://www.bridethings.com/forum/wedding-planning/venue-food-decoration-dj-transportation/238-greater-vancouver-wedding-venues-master-list.html

I’m also have a non-denominational Vancouver wedding. I looked at lot of places, and researched even more. My faves are listed here: http://westcoastbridetobe.wordpress.com/2011/10/28/beach-weddings-in-bc/

Happy hunting and good luck!

I just got married and had my ceremony at Queen Elizabeth Park – the Celebration pavilion.  The location is no doubt beautiful BUT the service from the Chapels was horrible.  Once they have your money they are unresponsive when you have concerns or complaints (they totally mess up my cake reception which I should note was NOT worth the price you pay for, they don’t respond in a timely manner if at all when you have concerns or complaints).

I have been happy with all my vendors and even with little hiccups but with the Chapels their attitude was so poor and upsetting (esp AFTER the wedding) that I don’t recommend anyone to use them – sadly you have to also pay in full a month before your wedding so it’s not like you could hold back money for giving you a cake that was not what you wanted, for failing to deliver what was promised (the lady at the chapels even blamed ME back saying that champagne flutes were short stubby cups when i even told her earlier what i was envisioning AND they even defensively argued they had set up napkins and plates as indicated on the list of what they would provide when i have so many guests, photographs and MYSELF to prove none of that was provided).

our commissioner also made inappropriate comments that my husband and i did not appreciate nor the guests and the response from the chapels didn’t seem to care when i raised that.

All in all – You would expect at the very least they would try to listen to what went wrong for future weddings but i just got a snarky well nothing we can do and hope you have a good marriage life.  So brides to be BEWARE!!!!!

Oh I’m SO sorry to hear that…. my fiancee and I checked out the Celebration Pavilion, and it looked so nice in the photos online but we were underwhelmed in person. We didn’t get a great feeling from the guy who showed us around, and the prices of their packages are ridiculous for what they include (or more importantly- what they DON’T include!)

I hope you have many other happy memories of your wedding!
