BEAUTIFUL RINGS LADIES! I’ve been with my gf for 3 years now and it’s time to get engaged. I plan on asking her sometime in the summer (after my brother ties the knot in june at least). Anyways, I needed help finding an engagement ring.

She has told me she’s not into the diamonds and would prefer a gemstone (blue sapphire or aquamarine). I saw a lot of beautiful rings in this thread so I was excited to pick one out for her!

However, I don’t know WHERE TO START!

Where did you/or your SO purchase your rings from?

Can you create your own ring? – I was thinking she would love a blue sapphire with moissanite or asha around it (instead of diamonds). How do you go about doing that?

Have any of you purchased the gem seperately and then had a jewel store create a ring?

–I’m really confused about this whole process and could really use any suggestions.

-I’ve saved up so my budget is pretty flexible! –

Thanks so much in advance.

DPPT87 –When I started looking for a non-diamond a few of my favorite places to look were etsy.com (they could do the sapphire/moissanite thing you were asking about!), brilliantearth.com (they have sapphires and TONS of settings), thenaturalsapphirecompany.com, and faycullen.com Smile however we chose a moissanite from moissaniteco.com and I love it! They have colored moissanites too and they’re SO sparkly. Congratulations on your upcoming engagement!

@DPPT87:you can def have it custome made! Thats what my man did. He bought the stone seperatly then found a jewler to do the custome design he had designed for me. Make sure if you go custom rout that you find someone you trust and have seen their work. We looked on etsy but found alot of the people (not all) to not have the level of expertise that required to create a lasting piece. so be careful on there. Good luck! im sure she’ll love it.

@octopus: tell the flakers to get with the program. in the UK 8 out of 10 brides recieve blue saphirres – not diamonds! its tradition.

I’m so glad I finally get to post in the rebel non-diamond section! Flaunt what you have.  My ruby ring rocks. It is the color of passion and is my Fiance birthday stone.
