You can find diamonds that are not ‘blood’ diamonds. A lot of the gemstones are mined the same way. You could get a sapphire, I hear they are pretty durable.

My diamond is a Canadian diamond and is not related to  blood diamonds whatsoever.  I told my Fiance that I did not want a blood diamond so he made sure to check.  You could also look into tanzanite.  It’s a beautiful purple/blue stone from Tanzania.

I highly, highly recommend you look into moissanite. Extremely durable, second hardest only to diamonds, and tougher. Do a search on this forum for moissanite and you’ll find a ton of reviews and pictures.

I believe the next most durable gemstones are sapphires.

I personally want a yellow sapphire, but I second the other posters that moissanite is also really good.

@youngandinlove: My fiance proposed on Sunday with moissanite. OMG it’s so beautiful! I have a few posts about it.

Have you considered morganite?  Mrs. Champagne did a post on her SIL’s engagement ring awhile back.  Morganite can come in many shades of pink so it can be almost colorless.

I just got a 1.5ct ENHANCED moissanite from moissaniteco.com and I LOVE it!! I would very highly recommend it.

I suggest going to these forums. They know a lot about diamond alternatives over there! Moissanite is very durable and twice as sparkly as a diamond!

It also comes in other colors: Pink, Yellow and Green!

I have a blue sapphire e-ring, but it does have (conflict-free) diamonds around it and on the band…

I agree with PP’s who said moissanite is awesome.  If you like sparklies, moissanite is definitely for you!!

@peaches1038: Your ring is GORGEOUS!!!
