@FutureMrsHolmes:  I have a Moissy, which is a forever stone, so no worries about wear and tear (any more than with a diamond).  I highly recommend Moissy.

I have a sapphire. I’ve only had it for three months, so I’m not sure what the long-term upkeep is. So far it’s doing great re: wear and tear. I’m a good “test” subject, too, because I’m a hairstylist, so my hands are constantly in water, product, being banged against shampoo bowls, etc. I admit I do worry it’s going to damage the ring, but sapphires are relatively hard (9 on the mohs scale compared to a diamond’s 10), so hopefully it’ll hold up okay. Once I get married, I’ll probably just wear my wedding band when I’m at work in order to preserve my e-ring.

I have a sapphire. If you want a colored stone, they come in all colors: blue (obvi), green, peach, pink, yellow, purple, etc though when they are red they are rubies, though it’s the same stone. Nothing but a diamond or another sapphire is going to scratch it, and it’s actually more durable than a diamond when it comes to chipping/cleaving. So unless you are dueling with your rings against a friend with a diamond, you should be ok. I closed a car door on my ring and it sent my stone into my middle finger… My ring was perfectly fine, my finger, not so much.

I’ve got a sapphire and it’s held up really well. My line of work can be incredibly hard on your hands and my ring still looks perfect. I know I’ve dinged it off of several metal doorways and cabinets and while my finger has ended up bruised a few times my stone is totally fine.

here’s when I first got it

and here’s a pic from over a year later

Peach sapphire.  I’ve had it for 10 months.  I wear it everyday but take it off to do hard chores like scrubbing the floor with crazy chemicals or garden work.

No scratches or anything  – typically you need to worry more about prongs than the stone itself.

I’ve got a moissanite engagement ring and it’s gorgeous. I tend to bang my hands around a lot and so far it’s held up well, but I’ve only had it a few months. It also stays a lot cleaner than I anticipated.

I have a amora gem ring, and I love it. I’m not really supposed to wear it until the wedding, but i “secretly” wear it when I am home alone. It is supposed to hold up nicely  for every day use.

@applecat:  lovely! I don’t often see sapphires with yellow gold but I love it a million times over blue sapphire and WG!
