Hullo bees, sorry if it’s not in the right part of the forum but I just don’t know where should I post this question.
Could you please give me your opinion on which necklace of the two options to get please? I’m torn between two choices:
Choice 1: Tiffany’s Elsa Peretti Bean necklace on yellow gold 18k, 12 mm long
Choice 2: Bespoke 0.5 carat pear shape solitaire custom-made by a trusted small local jeweller where I live (Joallier du Marais), around 6.5 x 4.5 mm, D-VS2 eye-clean on yellow gold
Similar like this one from Baunat but with straight ring on top to put the chain on, and the back would probably be open to get more light on, and many other improvements. It’s a customized bespoke item made according to my wishes from another existing model. This jeweller is the one who made my bespoke diamond solitaire birthstone right hand ring and the quality and service is amazing, with lifelong resizing, cleaning, polishing etc included. I do love the quality of work on my ring and the quality/price. And I love the fact that they are small bussiness, family-owned, somehow this just makes the experience very personal when I see the piece being drawn with a pencil in front of me according to the 1 hour face-to-face discussion with half a dozen existing pieces in front of us. It’s like combining my favourite elements out of many different pieces. But the thing is, there is no model to try on directly beside the different pieces put together to test.
For Tiffany bean one, well, it’s simply Tiffany and I think the bean’s cute. I love kidney bean so… 😉
On price point both options are similar (around 1400€ all taxes & duty included), on similar chain length (around 40 cm) and I love them both. I do not have any “real” fine jewelry necklace before and I only want to have one I’ll wear for the rest of my life for daily use.
I think the Tiffany one feels fun and very original when the diamond solitaire feels like an understatement of classic elegance.
If you were me, would you mind sharing which one you would choose and why to help make this choice please?
Thanks bees ^^

I think Tiffany’s is wildly overpriced and that it’s a very good idea to support quality local businesses. I also think the pear is MUCH prettier than the bean.

Ugh, one part of me says TIFFANY, another says your money would be far better spent on a diamond… but then again, the second-hand Tiffany market is huge, second-hand diamond market maybe not, so…

I looove Tiffany’s, but the bean necklace seems more like a novelty piece, which is fine, but I couldn’t justify it for that price, personally.
If it were me, I would choose the pear and then later get the bean necklace in the sterling silver option ($125). That way I would have a beautiful, timeless investment piece and then a fun, spunky necklace and can switch them out depending on my mood and outfit.

I used to love Tiffany but every single piece of jewelry I have from there has broken in one way or another. My favorite necklace from there broke at least 3 x and it costs $50 get it fixed every time. Maybe their high end jewelry is better quality but I refuse to give them any more of my money. Plus, I like the pendant much better.

The diamond! The Diamond!
The Tiffany’s necklace is cute, but for that $ I wouldn’t want cute I’d want classic and timeless. A simple diamond pendant will go with everything.

Thanks for the reply & poll, everyone 🙂
Yes to supporting local bussiness! 🙂
that’s a good idea actually, to get the silver bean necklace later on for Christmas! Thanks for the good idea, I was so into the gold-necklace mindset that this option completely
Seriously?? Pendants?? I didn’t expect that anything with that price tags can be broken that often except on accidents O.o. Thanks really for the input, I think I’ll just go with the diamond pendant since at least if ever anything broke it’ll get repaired for no extra fee.
I’m going with the teardrop diamond pendant then, thanks everyone ^^
