I’m not a fan of the sappy father/daughter dance songs. My dad and I have had our ups and downs but we have a great relationship, just not the lovey-dovey kind. I have narrowed it down to two. My Father’s Eyes by Eric Clapton, which is semi-sappy but not too bad. The other is a song that my dad and I both love and I remember growing up with him always playing the song and drumming to it (he’s a drummer), literally playing it over and over again. Completely not F/D dance song, but it has a special meaning to us and always makes me think of my dad so I don’t really care if nobody else gets it. It is Everybody Wants to Rule the World by Tears for Fears. I’m probably going to go with the second, it has more meaning to me and it doesn’t have to fit the “norm” in my opinion. Try thinking of songs that completely remind you of your dad.

I would just try and do something personal to you two 🙂
me and my dad are dancing to Red, Red Wine because when I was little we always uses to dance to it with him carrying me 🙂 it doesn’t have to be a classic father/daughter song to be meaningful. i hope you get something lovely 🙂 x

@FutureMrsReilly: I think I’m going to use “Little Miss Magic” by Jimmy Buffett. Not too sappy and I love it because one line in the song he says “She loves to ride through the town with her top down, feel the warm breeze on her gentile skin” and I drive a convertible. Then he says “I see a little more moustache turning gray” and his moustache is gray lol! It’s a really sweet song and I’ve never heard anyone use it before.

@FutureMrsReilly: We did Father/Daughter and Mother/Son dance at the same time to “Dream Big” by Ryan Shupe and it was perfect. 🙂

I love “You’ve Got a Friend” by James Taylor, I think that’s what I’m having for my father-daughter, it’s not “little girl”-ish but I think I will cry it’s so beautiful!!!
