I would go and try on dresses- one thing to be aware of is that the selection of non strapless dresses is small and that not all strapless dresses are the same.  I would highly suggest a bolero or something similar to wear with a strapless dress. I ended up with strapless and really didn’t think I would.  I am trying to decide whether or not a bolero is appropriate.

You can also modify strapless to have cap sleeves.

The way it works nowadays is that  most dresses are strapless and the dress shops have lots of different sleeve, cap sleeve, and strap options as an add-on. Even DB has like 15 strap/sleeve options.

For me, a bolero is not a good substitute for sleeves or straps, because in June I will overheat wearing all that, so I have to find a dress that is made with it or get it as an an add-on. @smi5002:‘s wedding is in April, so it would be fine with the cooler weather, if it’s your style.

I really wanted to avoid strapless as well since I feel like A LOT of brides wear strapless but alas my heart went to strapless gowns.

I wasnt a huge fan of strapless either and I just found my dress and I’m absolutely in love with it!! It has cute little cap-sleeves.

It’s by designer Amy Kuschel- the dress is called ‘Paris’, take a look! πŸ™‚

I definitely want straps too, but I am planning on trying on strapless options as well, knowing I’ll get straps added regardless.

I wasn’t sure about a strapless dress either and was so happy to find this dress!  I found it online and had to order it before I tried it on.  Luckily, the store was super nice and said I could pick out something else if I didn’t like it, but I loved it! πŸ™‚

I hear ya!  I have a small chest – didn’t want to be tugging up the dress all night, so I also wanted something there… I tried on dresses with cap sleeves but didnt like how much of my back they covered up. Ended up going with a one shoulder and it was perfect.

San Patrick makes a ton of one-shoulder gowns that are beautiful and reasonably priced.   Martina Liana makes a few gorgeous gowns with matching boleros that can be attached to the dress, so essentially adding sleeves.

My final decision was a Marisa, which is supposed to be strapless, but I added the one-shoulder.

My dress comes strapless but I didn’t think I could pull it off.  I love my dress with straps πŸ™‚
