I found a cover of the guns and roses song sweet child of mine. It cane be found on youtube or purchased from Itunes. The artist is shagpile. He is really good and it doesn’t sound like a cheesy ripped off cover!

I asked my dad to pick a non-sappy song… he picked “What a Wonderful World” … ugh, thanks dad! I said non-sappy! But it has sentimental value since Louis Armstrong was my grandmom’s (his mom) favorite singer.

Sorry I couldn’t be more help on that one!

I have always loved In My Life by the Beatles, but it was already done as a father/daughter in my family.

@shellyjean:  We will most likely do “Father and Daughter” by Paul Simon, too.  That’s my Dad’s favorite!

@HoneyBear: I just checked this out–new favorite song for a while, I think! Love it. I don’t have a father/uncle/grandfather to dance with, so I can’t really say what one we’re doing. But I do love “Sweet Pea.”

My dad and I are dancing to “Time of Your Life” by Green Day. It’s sentimental, but it’s a song that everyone seems to like and it’s not overly sappy.

My Dad & I are dancing to My Girl – but the John Hiatt / Loudon Wainwright cover.  It’s loooonnnnnng though, so we are cutting it short.

I think anything frank sinatra or michael buble are great options. They are pretty generic good dancing songs – fast and slow!

We’re dancing to Simple Man by Lynyrd Skynyrd. It’s kind of long so we’re having to shorten it.

We danced to My Girl by the Temptations. I thought it would be upbeat enough, but my dad still had a hard time. Towards the middle of the song we broke out into Dancing In The Street- and invited all guests on the dance floor! And in case you’re wondering, we purposely had my husband and his mom dance before us so we could do an intro into everybody dancing!

My dad and I are dancing to “Walk with You” by Edwin McCain. I also consider Darius Rucker, who I love!! I also heard someone I know using “Here for You” by Ozzy Osbourne
