We went to Savannah, GA for our honeymoon.  Most of our friends thought that was non-tradtional, since most of them go to places like Mexico, Cuba, etc.  It was great, and we just went again over Christmas because we loved it so much!

We’re tossing around the idea of going camping (backpacking not the car kind!) as the ultimate getaway. Carrying water filters and following streams and everything. We’ll probably do something more cozy and pampered when we get back.

Our dream honeymoon is to fly out to Seattle, rent a car, and drive down the west coast. We really want to go on a whale watching tour, see the redwoods, and see the temperate rainforest. We just started working on the wedding, so we haven’t done anything about the honeymoon yet.

We backpacked through Asia and New Zealand for 8 months, and finished with 3 months in a sublet in Toronto to be close to our best friends. We traipsed around CHina, Malaysia, Malaysian Borneo, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, and Thailand. Best. Honeymoon. Ever. We did it in between moving from Boston to San Francisco, so we could put our stuff in storage and not have to pay rent back home. My husband’s job even let him take a leave of absence and then work remotely from CA!

@imanw:  Yes!  We did a 11 day road trip from Utah to the Canadian Rockies.  I only know of two other couples that did this.  This was end of August/early September so the weather was just perfect for us.

The first and last day were spent driving to and from Canada (like 14 hours on those days), but the other 9 days were sightseeing and hiking.  We stayed in a different place most nights.  We also camped for 3 of the nights.

We hiked every single day of this trip.  Also, we got married on this trip – day 5 to be exact.  Yes, I hiked on my wedding day!  I wanted to.

I made a website about it anyone is interested in this type of trip.

We planned our wedding/trip in 15 days so anywhere we had to fly to was out.  Hence the road trip.

Here’s day 8 of the trip – married for 3 days and on top of the world!

Had a 3-week honeymoon in Europe = 3 days in Rome, 3 days in Munich for Oktoberfest, 3 days in Salzburg, 2 days in Amsterdam and ended our trip with a 9-day beer tour of Belgium via http://beertrips.com/. Tied in perfectly with our beer-themed wedding =)

We are renting a camper and spending the entire weekend at the Chicagoland Speedway during the NASCAR Sprint Cup series. I’m obviously a NASCAR fan, but even so, I was NOT thrilled with this idea. Unfortunately, my hands are a bit tied because Fiance is paying for the entire wedding and honeymoon and feels that we wouldn’t be able to afford a more traditional honeymoon. I’m very grateful for the beautiful wedding he’s working very hard to give us and so I’m trying to suck it up and not be a brat, but I’m afraid it will feel like a honeymoon for one.

Not sure what we will be able to do for a honeymoon (it’s my super busy time at work, his job sitch is up in the air).  But, we just got back from 3 weeks in Nicaragua as a “pre-moon”.  Hiking, surfing, kayaking, snorkeling, and lots of vegging on the beach!

@ElbieKay:  You’re the first person I’ve heard of that is also doing an African honeymoon!

We’re doing 3 weeks in Kenya and Tanzania:

@Mrs. Wallaby:  I will indeed! It isn’t until the 2014 one though. I wish we were going this year, the line up is AMAZING!

We live in Canada but will get married in Sweden as that’s where I’m from. The plan is to head down to Stockholm the day after the wedding and they fly to Paris for the 5th to celebrate my birthday. We’ll then spend about a week cyckling between wine yards in the Loire valley. Depending a little on how much time my Fiance can take off from work, we’ll then go to Switzerland for some hiking and climbing. So not a resort honeymoon if that’s what you refer to as traditional. 🙂
