@araneidae:  Yes, a lot of people around here have planned their weddings like that!  Some people have some lounge type furniture, some seating, but not for a formal dinner. Congratulations and Welcome! 🙂

I’ve heard this kind of reception called “South Beach style” by other posters. I’d say the only thing you need to worry about is making sure your elderly guests have reserved seating and that everything is easy to eat while standing.

We are having a roasted pig instead of the standard 4 course plated meal. The carving will take place in the reception venue and people can come get their meat. The sides will be on the table for them. 

My friend had an evening coctail reception with yummy hors deurves and a roast beef station. it was a hit and there was seating for those who needed it. There was so much food to so no one went hungry.

I think its a great idea so much more fun and not to mention helps cut the cost!! So many different things and fun hors deurves to choose from!!!  Happy Planning 🙂

We are having a food truck cater our wedding – we love food trucks and think it will be a fun addition to our celebration.  We are hiring a couple servers to wait on the folks who can’t walk very well, but everyone else will walk up to the truck and “order” whatever they want!
