How quirky do you wanna go? You could have it be a mailbox? Or a file folder? A CD case? Recipe organizer?

I totally forgot about needing a card box until the day before the wedding so I just went to target and looked in thier home decor section and found cute box. It was just a wood box with a pretty design painted on it.

Do you have a theme/ feel/era to your wedding decor?

Your question  is incredibly broad. Have you checked google image? That can help narrow down your ideas

Any of these would suit your very elegant venue, but they are pricey.

I don’t really know what the trendy ideas you are talking about, but I’m using a bird cage and I love it! (Apologies if this is the kind of idea you were talking about)

We bought a wooden chest from hobby lobby.  My husband drilled a slot to drop the cards into, and we made a bow for the top in our wedding colors.  We even put our last initial on it.  It was cute, and cost us very little to make.

I don’t know if this is “trendy” but we used a small vintage suitcase decorated with old fashioned stickers printed off from places we’d lived or traveled to. It fit with our vintage/world travel theme. It sat open on top of an old steamer trunk and we used a couple dowels to hold up a printed “cards” banner.
