No wedding gown at all for me! I’m having a Hindu ceremony (in which I will be wearing a maroon silk sari, which is the equivalent of the white gown for Hindu brides). For the reception, many Indian brides choose to wear a lehnga, but I’m not very traditional or deeply attached to Indian culture, and I would feel neither comfortable nor gorgeous wearing one, so, instead, I’m just getting a designer gown. Of course this means shopping for one is going to be a huge project, but who wouldn’t love shopping for a designer gown!??! I’m probably going to end up getting something purple (my favorite color), but if I find something else I love, then I’ll get it!
Also, I won’t be carrying a bouquet (not part of the Hindu ceremony) so my bridesmaids won’t have one, either. Saves me the hassle of coordinating their flowers and the extra cost of all those bouquets!
