- Wedding: June 2011
Right after Fiance and I got engaged in February, we knew we wanted a wedding before winter showed her silly head again… and decided we’d try to work around one of my best friends schedules as he is in a band that tours.
We booked the date, sent save the dates and ordered invitations and all was well – he was still on a 2 week break.
I asked my other best friend in Miami to be a bridesmaid, and she offered to make our wedding cake as well.
Things were going great!
I have another close friend in Florida and one in upstate NY, but we’ve been sort of drifting apartsince she had a baby and focused on no one but herself.
My best guy friend’s work booked a date in the middle of nowhere out west on my wedding date. 🙁 The worst part is I found out BEFORE him because of a Pollstar notification on the band.
So that was depressing, but we knew it was a longshot, so I dealt.
Then I hear from my other Florida close friend that her mother surprised her with a vacation that leaves on my wedding day. Ok, ok… I’m happy for her, but it’s sucky.
My NY friend sends me an RSVP reply of No, followed by a facebook message saying she won’t be there because she’s coming back from her honeymoon that day (SAY WHAT?! I didn’t even know you were getting married!). Ok, well, clearly we’re at different points in our life so ok.
Then today my other best friend let me know because of her husband’s business, she’s unable to come for sure. Meaning I’m out a bridesmaid, a friend, and a baker. Ugh.
The ‘bride’s friend’s’ category of our guest list is embarrassingly small at this point. 🙁
Anyone else dealing with something like this?
