It is believed that nonstick may cause cancer. Also, if you’re really into cooking, stainless steel is where it’s at 🙂

Stainless steel all the way! Nonstick can scratch off and get in your food. I’ve also heard a lot of health reason not to get nonstick.

Cast iron is our #1! Stays warm. Actually adds a healthful ingredient to your foods (iron) rather than harmful toxins. Lasts forever. Love it!!! Also stainless steel does the trick. So long as you soak it after you’re done with it, it’s very easy to clean. We have a pet bird, so we can’t risk the Teflon becoming airborn, so cast iron and stainless it is!

@hopefloats:  Was it somehow overheated? Overheating nonstick causes the coating to vaporize or peel/flake off. Also all nonstick has a shorter lifespan than other forms of cookware since the coating eventually wears off with even gentle use.

@hopefloats:  Our next set will def be stainless. Our non stick is starting to flake and it creeps me out that it could get into our food.

@hopefloats:  Did you look into the Lodge brand? They’re extremely reasonably priced and USA made!

I have nonstick right now, but my next set will be stainless steel.  My SO’s mom has stainless steel and I love using it when I’m over there.

I like my nonstick pans for things like eggs and pancakes, but otherwise I prefer my copper pans. Stainless would be my second choice! I have a few cast iron pieces too but honestly they are such a PITA to clean that I avoid using them. And the whole “no soap” thing really kind of skeeves me out to be honest lol.
