Can you be at all flexible on the date?  They may have dates they need to fill. Try writing an email like:

My fiance and I really love the idea of having our wedding & reception at the [Delaware Estate], but the $3000 venue rental is out of our budget.  Please let me know if you have any ideas to make this more affordable for us.  Otherwise, I’m afraid it’s out of our price range, and I thank you for your time.

 I guess you can maybe tell them your budget & see what they can do.

@ThisDeluxeLife:  which estate was this?

how many guests do you have?

ETA: nevermind, i saw 80-130.

I’ll let you know if I can think of anything! But a majority of places I came across were all inclusive

@ThisDeluxeLife:  That is RIDICULOUS. If you’re sure you’re not going to go with them, I’d go on forums and post reviews that state asically what you said here–that they are grossly misleading about their prices. Other people deserve to know about their sketchy practices, and maybe you can save some other bride from falling in love. Sickening.

Did you ask what the jump in price was due to? Maybe you can negotiate the “party” price if you agree to a shorter time window, no rehearsal, doing your own cleanup, etc.

I am going on a major research rampage for you. The Blue Ball Barn has the rooms on the second story of the barn called the “Hay” and “straw room” that together can have 125 people and is $1900 for five hours. I know this is a little over budget, but I’m going to keep looking. it includes tables and chairs and setup.

I know Tinicum Park in Bucks County has (I think) a barn that you can rent and their rates are pretty cheap from what I remember.  Not sure if that’s what you’re looking for but I am also looking for venues with outside catering and that one came up.

You’re in DE so The Gables at Chadds Ford is close by.  It’s a restaurant so you wouldn’t be able to use your caterer but they may be able to fit a wedding of your size and I know they will work with you on price.  Search them on the bee and you’ll find a ton of info from other girls from our area.  Best of luck 🙂
