I am not familiar with Orange County, but I just received some information today from a DOC who offers 10 hours on-site the day of the event for $1950.  The coordinator is known to be the best in the area, but it seems a little high to me.  Or is it?  I would love to hear what other people’s research has turned up.

June, one idea my mom and I had was to try to "hire" someone who we know who has the right personality (i.e., good judgment, organized, cool under pressure, etc.), but is not super close (so that none of our good friends would be charged with such a huge responsibility).  If you do all the planning yourself and just need someone to be there all day to oversee everything and to deal with issues when they arise, maybe you can find someone to do it for a much more reasonable price–maybe like a friend of your sister or cousin, or your favorite sales associate at a retail store, or maybe a design student from an area college–anyone whose personality seems to be a good fit.  You know what I mean?

I used a DOC for my wedding last year and I only paid $400, and I thought the coordinator did a fantastic job. She was just starting out but I was able to get a great price and she exceeded my expectations. Her name is Marlene and her website is http://www.idoweddingandevents.com

I searched the OC craigslist and found Q and Q Exquisite Wedding Planning  and so far they have been great, i’ve been working with Quenisha and she has been so helpful and extremely well organized and I haven’t even had the wedding yet! Their DOC packages start at $200 but if you do not require all of the services on their package list, they are willing to negotiate a better price! I’ll let you know how the actual event goes, but its not until November!

I also had a DOC that was just starting out when I was looking (had my wedding this past April) and got her for only $100. I recently saw their ad for $500 but I’m sure you can negotiate it down. Tara from Smitten Events was my coordinator and she was really helpful, fast, and friendly. [email protected]
