I am currently living in New York but teaching jobs here are few and far between. I am starting to apply for positions for next school year and would like to know where I should look in NC (counties, districts, etc.) and where to avoid. I have done some research on where to apply but any advice would be helpful. Thanks!

I’m not a teacher, but I live in NC and I’ve heard some not-so-great things about Wake County’s districting- it changes all. the. time. Still, the schools are pretty good in the Cary area (in Wake) so Darling Husband and I are buying a house in that area anyway. Also, our real estate agent used to be a middle school teacher in Wake County and he changed professions because the politics got to be too much for him :/

I would go to Fort Mill, SC – that is the top school district in SC and it is a suburb of Charlotte – It’s about 20 miles from Center City.

My Fiance teaches in Guilford County and I student teach there as well. It has some really really nice schools and some pretty poor ones too. The new superintendent is awesome! And he’s wanting to do a salary raise for ALL teachers and give more money to the education budget. I’ve heard Orange county (east of Raleigh) is pretty nice too. My only personal experience is with Guilford, though.
