Hi there – we’re looking for a venue that would be outside of Seattle, north towards Skagit Valley or Bellingham, that would be (or could incorporate) the Sound or have Sound views. We don’t want to venture into the San Juans per se or go to the coast -we want it to be fairly easy to get to from Seattle.
Does anyone have any ideas? We’re going to have about 150 people and, given Seattle’s weather it would be nice to have an area that had a back-up building on site in case it rains. We’ve found a lot of barns & unique venues in Skagit Valley but I thought I would post to see if anyone knew of some great places that aren’t as well known.

You could look into Whidbey Island or Anacortes venues (that would also incorporate a ferry ride which visitors love…don’t ask why).
Is there a reason that you want it away from Seattle? There are some great, inexpensive venues in and around the city. I’m a wealth of information about that if you’d like to know.
Mukilteo is also beautiful, and has some lovely waterfront spaces.
This is pretty general info – I can specify if you have questions!

Hi there! I’ve been to several weddings at the Bellingham Ferry Terminal. They have a really cool glass bubble that overlooks the water. A lot of couples choose to have their pictures at Boulevard Park which is a few minutes away. It’s fairly reasonable and you can for sure fit 150 people in there.
Another venue in Bellingham you can check out is Hotel Bellwether. This is a beautiful hotel right in the water. Also if you want to go a little farther North there is place called Semiahmoo resort<span class=”Apple-style-span” style=”font-family: ‘Lucida Grande’; font-size: 11px; white-space: pre”>. It’s a hotel/spa etc right on the water. Good luck with the planning!

i’m not sure if this place is far enough north of seattle, but i would suggest looking into the woodmark hotel in kirkland, which is right along the sound, and it looks beautiful. i think it can also accommodate all your guests. i never been there before, but i always see pictures of this place, and it seems like wedding photographers love going there because they always feature their work from this venue.

Hi all – thank you so much for your responses! I hadn’t thought about Mukilteo… ideally we’d like to be near Anacortes and have the wedding party rent a house on Guyamas (sp) Island. I haven’t had as much finding places on Whidbey – although I’ve looked a lot.
In answer to the why not in seattle question – we’re trying to find some place where we could maybe do a beach wedding without being so close to Seattle that thousands of people are at your wedding too – without you knowing them. 😉
Thanks again for all the help!

Semiahmoo Resort in Blaine is nice also and is surrounded by water. It’s pretty far north though. . .

Agreed, Semiahmoo is very nice. There is also Kiana Lodge in Poulsbo.

I second Kiana lodge, I went to a wedding there and the view is gorgeous. Very easy to get to by the Winslow ferry (though you probably want to hire a shuttle from the ferry). If you decide against the beach idea, you could also check out the Lake Union Cafe in Seattle (it’s a private event venue). I used to live near there…the view over Lake Union is great! My Future Mother-In-Law is thinking of maybe hosting a Seattle reception for us there. There is of course W. Seattle or Golden Gardens, but as you say, you’ll run into the too many people issue.

What about Camano Island or La Conner? They both are on the sound and are quite little areas…
