so, long story short, my plan of doing our first look and photos at our venue have sort of fallen through (as it turns out, connroy catering and glen foerd are crazy non-accomodating… would not recommend dealing with them if you’re even trying to consider anything diy related). as i am not native to philly, i need some help with finding good first look and picture locations asap. i thought about pennypack park, but i am unfamiliar with where the “nice” parts of it are.
any and all suggestions are welcome! my only requirment is that it’s within 10-15min drive of either glen foerd or grant ave and rt. 1.

@RinaRoo: I don’t really know that area, but I did a Google search of Glen Foerd and tried to see what was nearby.
There’s a golf club super close and I bet they have lovely landscaping, etc. The pics on their site look nice. You could call and see if they will let you take pics.
Torresdale–Frankford Country Club
Also, just north of the Girlfriend Mansion on the map (on State Rd/Rt 1), there’s an area called:
Delaware River Access Area
And that could be nice, although might want to do a drive-by.

hmmm Im gonna ponder this. This is a toughie. That area is super residential. Ive only ever gone in the park for the occassional keg party so it was never daylight. =P
ETA: of course one comes to me after I hit submit. Have you considered the northeast airport? Its a super small baby airport with mostly private charters. I have seen some great wedding photos taken in hangars. You’d have to ask permission I imagine.
Found these in google

@MASPA: thanks! that’s a great idea but really not our style. :/ i heard that nazareth academy has nice grounds and pretty buildings. would that be weird?

@RinaRoo: Nazareth is a private catholic school. I would find it very odd to see a bride walking around honestly.

This might be a bit too far of a drive from your venue (it is about 20-25 minutes away), but Core Creek Park in Langhorne is beautiful!

I went to Nazareth Academy! Brides were always taking pictures there…not weird at all. The grounds are beautiful, and there is also a gazebo. Good luck!

RinaRoo: Hey I was hoping to see where you ended up taking your pictures? I am getting married close to Glen Foerd and am looking for a place to do our first look and to take some pictures. I’d love to hear what worked for you!

It’s a tiny bit farther, but there is a lagoon in Bristol where my sister had her wedding pictures taken. Also, Silver Lake park is about 15-17 minutes away and there are a few pretty locations there. I can offer some photos of Silver Lake if you don’t see any good inspiration online.

Both my cousin and aunt had their wedding photos taken at friends hospital down rt 1. They turned out beautiful. They have a lot of flowers and trees to take pictures around.
