Though I don’t know any particular groups, I can put you in touch with Stowe School District’s band teacher who is well connected with the music scene in Lamoille County. Is the wedding at Blessed Sacrement?

I’ll double check with her that she’s cool with me giving our her email and check back with you! And if you find a brass trio, do you think they’d make a good cocktail hour?

sorry, but just a quick question for you cantabrigian:

are you having a catholic mass at blessed sacrament? i am trying to have a catholic ceremony outside in stowe but am not sure if that is even possible. was just wondering since you mentioned you weren’t having a full mass….any help would be appreciated….both sets of parents have lots of emotion about this topic.

I’m also looking for ceremony musicians, though in Central Vermont. We are getting married outside and just looking for a couple of people to play strings for the ceremony and maybe cocktail hour. Does anyone have any suggestions? And any thoughts on how much this should cost? Thanks!!

OK – reporting back on ceremony music! These both come recommended by my own ceremony musician – a flutist & pianist who is also a close friend and band teacher. She highly recommends them for both their music and their experience with weddings in Vermont.

For strings: Mary Gibson – a violinist with the Vermont Symphony Orchestra – her home phone is 802.253.9588 – she also has additional string contacts.

For brass: Jo Anne Edwards with The Consitution Brass – http://home.comcast.net/~jedwards60/index.html

I’m curious what you find out… Good luck!

just wanted to let you know i think we are going to book Mary Gibson! My Fiance talked to her and really liked her and the way she talked about what she’d play. Thanks so much for the suggestion, BenJerrys. It’s so funny, she asked how we found her and my Fiance had no idea since I just gave him the name to call!
