turtlebackb :  We did that also, but we did not list this separately in the program.

How about something like an expression of love or exchange of personal letters?

We did the same thing. We each wrote our own “vows,” which sound like what you’re describing – a few paragraphs talking about why we love the other person. We read these to each other after the reading but before the traditional “I do” vows and ring exchange. I just included this under “exchange of vows” in the program (we didn’t list it separately).

I tihnk our officiant just said “and now, Tiffany & [dh’s name] would like to say a few words to each other” – or something like that.

tiffanybruiser said–just have the officiant intro it as “A and B will now share some words for one another before their vows,” or something like that.

My wife and I did the same thing; we wrote brief things to share, addressed to one another but not in a vow format. I think our officiant just said something like “A and B now have some personal words for one another.” People will figure it out 🙂

We’ve written our own vows, and what we’re having our officiant say that we’ll say “we do” after, we’re calling “declaration of intent” on our program.
