@maggiemay0811:  I just wanted to tone up as well ๐Ÿ™‚ In November I bought a gown size 6 and I knew it would have to be taken in a bit. I just went to my first fitting last week, and Davids Bridal had to exchange my dress for the next size down and still took it in!

1 lb of muscle = 1lb of fat, but muscle doesn’t take up near as much room. I did loose about 7 lbs, because I changed my eating habits and am a much healthier eater now and portioning my foods.

I am a little worried that if I lose anymore it won’t fit in a month so I am making sure my calorie intake sustains my weight.

I think you look great now! If you want to tone up and don’t mind getting alterations, make sure you sustain after your fitting.

She probably told you to stop now, because your dress is lace. I have a lace dress and alterations change the lace patterns, so if you have to take it in too much the lace will be chopped off and not continuous. Congrats on the weight loss & I agree you should continue to tone and just try to eat healthily.

You look stunning! Toning up should be okay, but be careful on the weight thing.  Alterations can get costly!! ๐Ÿ™‚

@maggiemay0811:  My first fitting took about an hour. My wedding is June 9th, originally I was scheduled for my first fitting in March (early) and since I was losing inches then (not weight) they decided to push me out until April 26th. I am scheduled to pick up my dress on May 23rd (about two weeks before the wedding).

Some brides get more than one fitting, I think they say to plan on 3 but hopefully I won’t need so many. Most people I personally know only went in once. I think either of those times would be good. I measured myself weekly; bust, hips and waist so I knew when I was still losing and when I became more stagnant. Luckily, I have stayed the same for awhile now. I am just making sure I don’t over do it with strengthening/toning and running (hence watching calorie intake) myfitnesspal.com has been a lifesaver!!

Danicalifornia makes a great point as well, I didn’t have a lace dress so I don’t know if that may be the issue, but this is something you can talk to your alterations person about.

I’m the same way- I was told not to lose anymore weight. I’m not trying to lose any but I am trying to tone but be aware that with toning your body it is going to change your shape and you will still may have to get your dress altered a little. I’ve been maintaining the same weight for the past few months but I’ve been lifting and my stomach area has gotten smaller, while my butt and shoulders/arms have gotten more muscle definition.

@maggiemay0811:  dfontaine07 makes a great point, even though you want to maintain your weight measurements will change.

Just be sure to measure yourself each week, I have heard from so many people that weight is nothing but a number and measurements are much more telling. You can still lose an inch but not a pound.

Why do you want to lose more?  Is your BMI on target?  Has your doctor asked you to lose more?

I know my personal trainer would hate to see me lower than 145….he almost flipped when he misheard me say that and thought i said 135….

also, make sure your goal weight is something you can maintain…if you go too low it will be hard to maintain, and it could just be that it’s not a healthy weight for you so your body is trying to adjust….

You look great now!

If she wants to lose weight, she’s totally entitled to losing weight.  We have one picture, taken from below (which isn’t the best angle) and I don’t think we can tell her what she should do.  OP, do what makes you feel good.  ๐Ÿ™‚

A bridal consultant doesn’t get to tell someone months away from their wedding what they should do when it comes to their fitness regimine and diet!

Weight-wise, do whatever you want!  That is what alternations are for ๐Ÿ™‚
