I don’t have a stone yet, but we’ve been looking. I think your plan is good! To me, I think it’s hard to be WOWed by a diamond unless it’s actually in a setting. Plus online photos always look great because the companies can take the best pictures!

Maybe when you go looking, see if the jeweler can drop the stone into some settings you like to see how it will look on your hand.

Good Old Gold is awesome.  My ring is from there and I’m sure they’ll find you something great in your budget.

@mousiegirl:  Lucky you for getting to go to GOG! I absolutely love their August Vintage cushions. And awhile ago they had these pinkish-brown diamonds that were absolutely stunning and really affordable…you are going to have a lot of fun stone shopping there! I’d love to shop there in person one day.

And yes, I have purchased a stone that I absolutely hated – as in my stomach sank as soon as I opened the box because I absolutely couldn’t believe how ugly it was…couldn’t even understand how it had made it past “quality control”. I felt actual relief once it was out of the house being shipped back to the vendor for a refund. It wasn’t a diamond, though.

I’m sure that once everything is set and you can try the finish result on you’ll have the WOOOOW reaction!! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Do you mind me asking what size your finger is?

I think the stone is gorgeous!

I can understand that. I had a ring with an H stone in it, and it was too white for me. I like the character of low color stones, though my e-ring is H color. I would love an M/N/O stone.

It’s too bad that GoodOldGold doesn’t have any AVCs listed below your price range (like $2500 for the stone). They have some really nice low color stones, and Jonathon specializes in them.
