burtonbridesmaid :  My future sister in law was a bridesmaid in June for a close friend, her other friend was a bridesmaid too. Due to the bridezilla, most of the bridesmaids wanted nothing to do with the bride by the time the wedding rolled around. I’d say this is very common.

Unfortunately, this happens sometimes. Try to enjoy the day anyways, even if just for the free food! Sorry this has been so stressful for you!

I’ve been a bridesmaid a few times and in each case I was excited about the wedding itself but not so much about being in the wedding party haha I mean, it’s nice and it is an honour to be chosen to stand beside people I care about, but the actual standing up front in a dress not of my choosing and spending 2-3 hours getting photos taken, not so much hahaha

In your case though, it sounds like you’re not just not excited about the bridesmaid role day-of, you’re actually dreading the wedding itself and being around the bride all day. That fucking sucks, yo!! I’m sorry it’s been such a crap experience. Is there anything specifically you’re upset about or dreading? Is it possible to talk to her about what’s bothering you and see if you can work something out to make the day more enjoyable for everyone??

Or… if you just want to vent here, that’s fine too.

burtonbridesmaid :  I was chatting with a friend that was Maid/Matron of Honor in a wedding that happened a week or two ago. She basically told me (this was about 2 weeks prior to the wedding) that she could nto WAIT for it to be over and have her life back.

She was basically exhausted frome verything wedding and helpign the bride out that she felt like it had totally taken over her life! So you’re definitely not abnormal in feeling this way!

One of my best friends is a bridesmaid in her other close friend’s wedding.  The bride has gone so bridezilla that my friend is already exhausted by her behavior and not wanting to deal with it anymore.  That wedding isn’t until February, so she has a long way to go.

So yes, it happens.  Just get the wedding over with, smile when you must, and you might want to think seriously about whether this friendship brings value to your life anymore.  People grow apart, and that’s okay.

This was 100% me this summer. I know it sucks but hold yourself strong and just get through the day, and plan for fun things you can do to treat yourself once its all done! Take time to yourself to assess how you feel you want to move forward with the friendship x

oh i just your update about the all the drama and bridezilla stuff. WELP… that sucks. Easy to see why you arent excited in anticipation of more drama on the day.

Slap on a smile and try to ignore/stay out the drama.

Leave after cake.

I don’t know. Last wedding in I was done and dusted between the shower and spending all night before the wedding decorating the damn reception space so I feel you here.

Honestly I never thought people actually got excited to be in weddings.

I’ve been there. I’ve been excited to be a bridesmaid and then by the time the wedding happens, I’m tired of all the drama. Just go and smile and do your best. It’s just one day out of your life!!
