I didn’t get them and I don’t regret it at all! Friends snapped a few silly pics while we were all getting ready that I LOVE, but I wasn’t as concerned with the stylized professional photography.

Not married yet but I am getting them done only because our photographer package covers the whole day so we won’t miss parts of the reception. But if u want them both like others have said get one of your bridesmaids to snap a few and then u can have both.

I am doing this for a friend at the end of the year whose photography doesn’t start until the ceremony.

Out photographer popped in for a short time when we were mostly ready.  I like those pictures but I get you on the costs.  Just make sure someone gets a few pictures with their phone or personal camera.

msmeow85 :    I made sure to bring my camera in the room with me and my girls and we all had fun taking turns taking pics of each other and selfies and just capturing the whole process. The photographer came and took pics of me getting into my gown and putting on my shoes etc.  Thats an easy way to get pictures.  I have about a 100 pictures just from us taking pics steaming the dresses, getting hair and makeup, eating breakfast, lounging around etc.

W did not have them and I do not regret it.

If anything, I regret not having more candid pictures at our reception.

I feel like the only truly necessary pictures are ceremony ones and formals of the couple, Bridal Party, and family. I got getting ready pics through the cake cutting and don’t look at the getting ready ones or any of the reception pics, really.

We are planning to skip it. That time will be used for the groomsmen and mother of the groom to get their photos done.

Great thread! I was just wondering if I would regret not signing up for getting ready photos, but glad to see many didn’t feel they needed one in the end. I thought it would be too chaotic to have yet another person in the house while I get ready!

I didnt have bridesmaids, just a Maid/Matron of Honor but my mom was in my room with me also, and some of my favorites pics of me from that day were getting ready.

How about doing the bloquet and the garter tossing a little earlier sonhe will get all the important shots and you could also add an hour of you getting ready. My DH’s dad is oj the old side so I also wanted pictures of him getting ready with his dad.

This are just a few of those getting ready pictures that I really love!

I regret doing mine so much! They ruined the entire experience of getting ready. Instead of focusing on getting ready for my own wedding, I kept having to fend off a stupid photographer who tried to make everyone pose doing something (IMO) ridiculous and unnatural. Like, no, my mom doesn’t normally help me put on shoes, and I have better things to do than gazing lovingly at my wedding dress on its hanger! He kept getting in my face while I was getting my hair and makeup done… I think he distracted the makeup artist too, because she’s usually amazing but my wedding day makeup was awful. It was just such a waste of time. If I’d known he was coming (not my idea) I’d have shut the whole thing down, but it was a little unexpected.

Lesson learned, it was another reminder for me to be very wary if my parents offer me any “experience gifts”. We just don’t have the same ideas on what’s a good experience.

I did not have a professional photographer take getting ready pictures, but my mum took plenty. I LOVE some of them, but they wouldn’t have been a candid with a profesional. So I’d have someone take some, but not the photographer.

Honestly, I wish I would’ve had more photos of my reception than getting ready.

We had the same situation and my photog just got pics of me getting into my dress a couple minutes before walking down the aisle, putting on my earrings etc. and then she staged my make-up shots (just one or two) because hair and make-up had been done elsewhere before.

We had getting ready photos done and I highly recommend it. Our photographer captured all kinds of perfect moments that I wouldn’t otherwise have remembered.
